June 8 – The ALTGA will hold their regular monthly meeting on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Randall T. Moore Center. The program, "Shreveport's Historic Figure: William Edenborn: Businessman, Inventor and Philanthropist" will be presented by Don Weathersby, Historian & Buisnessman. The Hornbook session, “Unusual Records & Artifacts: Citing ‘SQUARE BLOCKS’ that do not fit "Round Citation Models" will by presented by Philip Adderley, CG.
June 30 - The GENCOM Genealogical Computer Society will hold their regular monthly meeting Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Broadmoor Library. Phil Adderley, CG will present a program about his homeland of Bermuda entitled “Casting the Net for 17th Century English ancestors: Bermuda”. Phil will cover the English connections to the early colonies, the Bermuda Trade Triangle of the 1600-1700s, pirates, privateers and researching Bermuda Archives and its Civil Records.
July 13 - ALTGA will hold their regular monthly meeting Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Randall T. Moore Center. The program “Mary was Bessie’s Grandmother and also her Mother! How Do You Handle Conflicting Evidence?” will be presented by Philip Adderley, CG.
July 28 - The GENCOM Genealogical Computer Society will hold their regular monthly meeting Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Broadmoor Library. Toni Turk will present a program about her latest gene-alogy research trip to Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The title of the presentation will be “Researching 160 years and 7 generations in 10 days”. She will be telling us about how she prepared for the trip and many of the details of how she conducted her research. With this trip she will have completed both of her father’s lines back almost 370 years.
August 10 - ALTGA will sponsor an all day seminar on August 10, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Broadmoor United Methodist Church. The featured speaker will be John Sellers. For more information see http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~laaltga/calendar.htm.
September 20-21 - GENCOM is planning a trip to the Arkansas Genealogical Society’s 2013 Fall Seminar in Little Rock. J. Mark Lowe will be the featured speaker. For more information on this event go to the following website www.agsgenealogy.org.
FOG – The Friends of Genealogy meet on Thursdays 9:00A.M. at the Broadmoor Branch Library in the Genealogy Department to work on their ongoing obituary project. They talk about family research, answer any questions or help a fellow member with their genealogy research.
• Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Meetings meet monthly on the following days at Podnuh’s Bar-B-Q.
o Corel Graphics/Photo SIG – First Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.
o Caddo-Bossier Window Users Group – Second Thursday at 7:00 P.M.
o Microsoft Windows SIG – Fourth Thursday at 7:00 P.M.
• Word/Exel SIG Group meets on the Second Thursday of each month at the Broadmoor Library at 2:00 P.M.
