GENCOM wishes you a happy and prosperous new year for 2013 filled with the discovery of many new relatives and ancestors to add to your family tree. We ended the year with a very successful GENFEST celebration in October and a fun filled Christmas party in December. We are looking forward to many exciting activities for this year to fulfill the goals that GENCOM has set for 2013:
- Provide informative and educational programs emphasizing the use of computer technology in genealogy research.
- Encourage GENCOM members to start or continue writing their family history stories and biographies for future generations.
- Encourage member participation in GENCOM’s monthly meetings.
- Encourage GENCOM members to make DNA testing a part of their genealogy research.
Our programs for January and February will cover researching courthouse records using the internet and also some hints how to make your visit to the courthouse successful. In March we will take a look at the newly introduced FamilySearch Family Tree application from FamilySearch.org.
We will also have monthly meetings of our DNA Special Interest Group for anyone that is interested in learning more about DNA testing for genealogy research. See the right hand side bar for more information on our meetings.
